When doing a search, for example:

Clif Bar peanut butter filling

I get multiple results that are very nearly alike, as if the mfg, had made a change in the sku and we got a new record. And example in the above search would be Crunchy Peanut Butter. I get at least 4 of them with slight changes in sugar or calories.

Is there a way I can specify in my search to return only the most recent item, like using the updated_at field? So if two items have the same brand_id and item_name I can get only the newest?

Great question. We are working on improving our /v2/search/instant results to prioritize more updated items over older items. In the short term, we are already prioritizing results in the /v2/ search API by which items are more popular, and these results will continue to get better over time.

On the client-side, you can also filter results that have matching names depending on how you want to change the user experience on the client.

Hope that helps!
